Detailed description

Day 1

Upon arrival at Lima Airport, private transfer to Hotel B.

Half Day Lima City Tour

You will have a panoramic view of the main streets, squares, and avenues of the city. Start with a panoramic view of the Miraflores district. You will start in the Parque del Amor, where you will observe the famous sculpture “The Kiss”, by the Peruvian artist Victor Delfin. Then, observe the impressive Huaca Pucllana, the ceremonial center of the Lima culture. Continue to the Plaza de Armas, where you will find the Government Palace and the Municipal Palace. Then visit the Cathedral and walk to the Convent of Santo Domingo, whose corridors were walked by San Martín de Porres and Santa Rosa de Lima in the 17th century and where their remains currently lie there.

Day 2
Lima / Cusco / Sacred Valley

At appropriate time, private transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco.

Upon arrival, private transfer to Sacred Valley enjoying the following tour.

Half Day Tour on the way to Sacred Valley

Upon arrival to Cusco, you are met for a private transfer and tour in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, you will be astounded by the beauty of the Andean landscapes along the way. Visit Awanakancha, a small complex to admire Andean camelids such as alpacas and llamas, and learn from local inhabitants about traditional dyeing and knitting techniques. Later explore the Pisac Market with enough free time to purchase handcrafts and if you feel like tasting something traditional, stop by the wood ovens for a delicious empanada or a piece of bread.  Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

After the tour, transfer and check in at Tambo del Inka in Sacred Valley.

Day 3
Sacred Valley
Full Day Incas’ Sacred Valley (Moray, Maras and Ollantaytambo)

Visit the most outstanding sites of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will start your day visiting the Inca terraces of Moray, with an impressive view of the colossal terraces, which were used to recreate 20 different types of microclimates, ensuring the empire’s agricultural production. You will continue to Maras, the famous and ancient salt mines of the colonial era. The contrast of its white wells with the green valley is imposing and unmissable for a spectacular postcard of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Lunch at a local restaurant. Finally, you will visit Ollantaytambo, a picturesque town continuously inhabited since Inca times, where you will visit the temple of the same name, used as a fortress during the Inca resistance, and from where you will obtain collection images.


Important: This evening you will need to pack a small bag for your train journey to Machu Picchu. For all train journeys, each passenger is allowed a carry-on bag (one bag or backpack) with a weight not to exceed 5kg/11 lbs. and maximum measurements of 62 linear in/ 157 linear cm (height + length + width). Baggage that exceeds these measurements will not be allowed. We ask you to pack the necessary for one overnight. Your extra luggage will be stored at the hotel in Cusco (you can get it back upon your arrival).

Day 4
Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu

This morning, pick-up from your hotel to take you to Ollantaytambo Station to board the Hiram Bingham Luxury Train to Machu Picchu. A train trip away to see one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Upon arrival at the Aguas Calientes Train Station, transfer and check-in at Sumaq Hotel.

Half Day Tour to Machu Picchu

Around noon, the local guide will meet you boarding the bus to go up the winding road to Machu Picchu, amid a spectacular view of the Urubamba River and its canyon. Before the tour, you will have a delicious lunch at the Tinkuy restaurant of Belmond Sanctuary Lodge Hotel. Then proceed to visit the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, which will astonish us with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps, and urban areas. Energy is all around us. After the guided visit, back to the town.


Important: The guided tour to Machu Picchu lasts 2 ½ hours, and the maximum time allowed within Machu Picchu is 4 hours.

Day 5
Machu Picchu / Cusco

In the afternoon, depart by the Belmond Hiram Bingham Luxury Train back to the Ollantaytambo Train Station in Cusco.

Upon arrival, check in at Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Cusco.

Day 6
Half Day City Tour of Cusco and Nearby Ruins

In the morning, you will go up to the Archeological Park of Sacsayhuaman. Your excursion starts with visiting the magnificent fortress, a beautiful place that radiates peace and quiet. You will be able to admire the rocks measuring up to 4 meters high that were used in its construction. Then, you will continue to “Q’enqo”, and ancient temple of the cougar, which has an altar for sacrifices in the inner part of the rock; and “Tambomachay”, the sacred fountains of life and health. On the way, you will have a panoramic view from Puca Pucara, a watch tower that controls the entrance to the city.  After that, you will visit the Temple of the Sun “Korikancha”, on top of which the Santo Domingo Convent was built. A legend tells that his temple was entirely lined with gold sheets that marveled the Conquistadors upon their arrival. Finally, you will end your tour by visiting the Cathedral, located in front of the main square, which keeps colonial invaluable paintings and other works of religious art such as the Cross that arrived with the first conquerors.

Day 7
Cusco / Puno

At appropriate time, transfer to the train station to board the Andean Explorer Train (note: train runs only on Mon/Wed & Sat).

Live an unforgettable experience traveling aboard the highest train in the world, the Andean Explorer. The glass-domed observation car provides the perfect opportunity to view the beautiful sceneries of the Andean High Plateau. The highest point on the route is La Raya, at 4,319 m/14.150 ft, where the train stops to allow time to admire the snow-covered Chimboya Mountain Range. Lunch served aboard the train.

The duration of the journey is 10 hours 33 minutes. The train makes a short stop at La Raya Market, Puno, which at 4,300 meters above sea level is the highest point of the route. Admire vicunas and alpacas, browse handcrafted woolen scarves and accessories and visit the enchanting local church while enjoying views of the soaring, snow-capped mountains.

Lake Titicaca is higher and colder than Cusco so please make sure to be prepared for these changes.

Upon arrival, regular transfer to Titilaka Lodge - Relais & Chateaux Hotel in Puno.

Day 8
Full Day Islands of Lake Titicaca

Explore the Uros floating islands and the Island of Taquile on this full-day trip; one of the most popular excursions. The floating islands of the Uros Titino communities of Lake Titicaca are neither land, sky, nor water, but rather the intersection of the three. Totora, also called junco reed roots, serves as a unique building material. The Islands of Lake Titicaca excursion brings you closer to the islands’ Uros-Aymara communities providing a unique opportunity to meet the skilled reed raftsmen and expert weaver women famous for their craft. You’ll get to know first-hand the remarkable heritage and the ancestral techniques used to keep their islands afloat. Return to hotel.

Day 9
Puno / Juliaca / Lima

Enjoy a morning visit to Sillustani exploring the circular burial towers or ‘Chullpas’ that overlook the Lago Umayo. Sillustani provides evidence of the area’s rich past while offering visitors privileged views of Lake Umayo. Host to several Chullpas, or ancient funerary tower-like structures, built exclusively to house the remains of nobles and distinguished individuals, Sillustani is among the best-kept archaeological sites in the area. Sillustani provides visitors with a range of Chullpas in varying architectural forms resulting from changing periods and power shifts of peoples like the Pucara, Kolla, and Incas. Made up of rocks weighing between 2 and 6 tons, the largest tower in the complex, known as the Lizard Tower, is estimated to have taken over 50 years to build. Combining archeology, history, and unforgettable views.

Afterward, drive to the Juliaca airport in time for the flight to Lima and then connect with your flight home.
