Uyuni Salt Flats – Inkawasi Island Tour

Excursion to the salt flats. Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flat, on Bolivia’s Andean plateau, and covers an area of 12 000 square kilometers. The deep silence makes your heart beat faster and plunges you into a surreal landscape where the sky is reflected by the land, playing with your sense of perspective and imagination. Lunch at Inkawasi island, an oasis surrounded by islands full of algae formations and fossils. It is covered by thousands of giant cacti, some more than a hundred years old, growing more than 12 meters high. The landscape of Uyuni merges into the horizon, making this an ideal place for serious photographers. Return to your hotel.

Day 2
Uyuni
Coquesa & Thunupa Volcano Tour

Enjoy a full-day excursion to the small village of Coquesa at the foot of Thunupa volcano. Stroll around the village and walk to the cave where the Coquesa mummies were found. Box lunch; return to your hotel in the afternoon.

Day 4
La Paz
La Paz City Tour and Valley of the Moon

Enjoy a private tour that takes you through indigenous, colonial and contemporary areas, all beneath the gaze of the imposing snow-capped Mount Illimani. The City of La Paz and its surroundings can transport you to a mysterious past where any corner, any street, is a hidden treasure where adventure begins; a living history which treasures the pre-Hispanic times with all their traditions and magic rites on its streets. The indigenous, colonial and modern areas, Indian Market, Witch Doctor’s Market & breathtaking panoramas are all framed by the majestic “Illimani” mountain. Visit the Moon Valley, a clay formation resembling the face of the Moon. Teleférico-cable car ride over the city of La Paz, enjoying the aerial view.

Day 5
La Paz / Lake Titicaca / Copacabana / Moon & Sun Islands

By road from La Paz to Copacabana on the shore of Lake Titicaca. Arrive in Copacabana and visit the Sanctuary and the Black Virgin. Hydrofoil cruise to The Moon Island to visit the Temple of the Virgins of the Sun, or Iñak Uyu. The second stop is The Sun Island to visit the Pilcocaina temple. Walk with the llamas to the hotel. Lunch and afternoon free to explore the surrounding area.

Finally, meet with the Limachi family, builders of the RA II and Tigris, vessels used in expeditions to cross the Atlantic.

In the evening there will be a son et lumière called the Mystical World of the Kallawayas, involving well-known Bolivian shamans who believe that the soul must be cured before the body. Our Kallawaya Tata Banjo blesses the travelers and reads the coca leaves. A welcome aperitif and a candle-lit dinner: setting the stage for an enchanting evening of a welcome aperitif followed by a candle-lit dinner. Finally, visit the Alajpacha Native Observatory to learn about the Andean cosmovision and observe the southern constellations.
