Itinerary

Day 01: BUENOS AIRES:

Upon arrival private transfer to The Glu Hotel, a boutique hotel and spa set in the trendy district of Palermo.

Day 02: BUENOS AIRES:

Half Day Classic City Tour & San Telmo Market

A 3-hour tour of Buenos Aires, the cosmopolitan city where the influence of numerous immigrants can be seen everywhere. The tour starts at the historic Plaza de Mayo Square, the décor of many resounding political manifestations with the ‘Casa Rosada’, the pink building at the end of the plaza, which is the seat of power of the Argentine government. Also visit the Cabildo (the old City Hall) and the massive Cathedral. Next, moving southwards, wander the picturesque and colorful port neighborhood of La Boca with its famous little street known as "Caminito". Its architectonic characteristics and customs reflect the influence of the European citizens who came to Argentina in the late 19th century, many Genoese sailors in particular. From here the tour fast forwards to the hip Waterfront district Puerto Madero. Discover the urban renewal project on the city’s former dockside that has been making headlines around the world with its eye-catching contemporary architecture. Next, visit stylish Palermo with its sophisticated residences and Recoleta, one of the more affluent neighborhoods and area of great historical and architectural interest. Its best known landmark is the Recoleta Cemetery, with the graves of notable people, including Evita Perón.

This tour will end in San Telmo, the oldest district of Buenos Aires, a must-see destination with its cobblestoned streets, amazing weekly street market and many good places to eat and drink. San Telmo was originally inhabited by aristocratic families who built many lovely colonial home and mansions. This quickly came to an end after a devastating yellow fever epidemic in the late 19th Century. Most of these houses turned into “conventillos”, tenement lodgings shared by poor families and European immigrants. San Telmo has preserved its architectural treasures and attracts numerous artists who have given the neighborhood a bohemian vibe and turned the area into the hotspot for tango. The best place to find unique antiques, silverware and art is at the weekly San Telmo Fair. Held every Sunday at the Plaza Dorrego, the fair is lively event with hundreds of stalls, street performers and tango dancers, a must for every tourist visiting Buenos Aires.

Day 03: BUENOS AIRES:

Porteño Art Tour

If Tango is the distinctive dance of Buenos Aires and steak the distinctive ‘Porteño’ meal, then ‘Fileteado’ is the city’s signature artwork. It’s a style of art that decorates objects with flowers and climbing plants, from buses to signs to shop windows. It is not found in art galleries, but lives on the street. This tour is an introduction to the artists who have mastered this technique; visit their studios and learn about the history of Fileteado. Buenos Aires is also home to many renowned silversmiths, not surprising as Argentina derives its name from the Latin word ‘Argentum’ (silver). Many talented local silversmiths still showcase this traditional craft. Visit a local artisan in the San Telmo District. The tour also includes a visit to the MALBA Museum in Palermo. The MALBA boasts an extraordinary collection of contemporary Latin American Art, featuring works by internationally known artists such as Frida Kahlo and Tarsila do Amaral. There is also an excellent café and terrace restaurant.

Day 04: BUENOS AIRES:

Half Day Art Tour

Visit to any two museums at the choice of the visitor. One option is a visit to the Museo de Arte Decorativo (National Museum of Decorative Arts). Designed by the same French architect responsible for the Trianon Palace Hotel in Versailles, the building alone is worth a visit. Another option is a visit to the Hispanic Art museum (Museo de Arte Hispanoamericano Isaac Fernández) that exhibits the most important colonial South American silver and craft collection in Latin America, housed in a neo-colonial style building. Continue the tour with a visit to two art galleries (except on Sundays) with temporary expositions that represent a selection of the best art galleries in Buenos Aires.

End the Tour with a wine tasting at La Cava del Querandi and sample some of Argentina’s outstanding wines.

Day 05: BUENOS AIRES:

Architecture Tour

According to locals, Buenos Aires is a ‘European’ city. During this tour, discover the eclectic European styles that influence the city’s identity. The classical buildings are a mix of French and Italian neo-classical architectural styles. But Buenos Aires is also home to numerous fine Art Nouveau and Art Deco buildings, as well as some striking contemporary architecture. Visit also some of the cities European-style parks and plazas. The tour also includes an insight into typical Buenos Aires homes and Spanish influences. Optional: a visit to a Museum.
