Itinerary
Day 01: BUENOS AIRES. Upon arrival private transfer to Alvear Palace Hotel.
VIP Dinner Tango Show – Including a Tango lesson.
Be seduced by the passion of Tango at a beautiful Art Deco Theater where Tango Porteño recreates the golden age of the forties. The dancers transport the audience back to the glory days of Buenos Aires when the spirit of tango oozed from every corner of the city and many unforgettable Tango orchestras and singers made history. The evening pays tribute to Tango legends like Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzolla. Guests also have the privilege of enjoying a one-hour Tango lesson with the impressive cast of dancers; perfect for learning the basic steps or brushing up on some more advanced moves under the trained eye of some of Buenos Aires’ top dancers. The colorful scenography, beautiful costumes and fantastic tango orchestra make Tango Porteño an unforgettable experience.
Day 02: BUENOS AIRES:
City Tour Tortoni’s Café and Colon Theatre
A 3-hour tour of Buenos Aires, the cosmopolitan city where the influence of the numerous immigrants that can be seen everywhere. The tour starts at the historic Plaza de Mayo Square, the décor of many resounding political manifestations with the ‘Casa Rosada’, the pink building at the end of the plaza, which is the seat of power of the Argentine government. Also visit the ‘Cabildo’ (the old City Hall) and the massive Cathedral. Further south, wander the picturesque and colorful port neighborhood of La Boca with its famous little street known as "Caminito". Its architectonic characteristics and customs reflect the influence of the European citizens who came to Argentina in the late 19th century, many Genoese sailors in particular. The visit continues towards the bohemian neighborhood San Telmo, one of the oldest districts in Buenos Aires, and a center of immigrant settlers. Most of the old architecture, the colonial houses and cobbled streets have been preserved. Stop at the traditional café Tortoni for a freshly roasted coffee with a crispy ‘medialuna’ (Argentinian croissant).
After this break, stroll around the hip Waterfront district of Puerto Madero, followed by a visit to Palermo, a neighborhood with elegant residences and the Palermo Woods, the largest green area in the city. Next, visit Recoleta, one of the more affluent neighborhoods in the city. One of Recoleta’s main landmarks is the Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place of Evita Perón.
The last stop on the tour is the Colón Theatre, Buenos Aires’ main opera house; its acoustics makes it one of the five best concert houses in the world. The Colón Theatre has its own Ballet and Dance School, and is home to the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra. Return to hotel.
Day 03: BUENOS AIRES:
Half Day Shopping Tour (3 hrs)
Enjoy a shopping tour to the most exclusive stores in the city. The selection of stores has been handpicked by local fashionista experts and can be tailored to individual preferences. Options include many excellent leather goods stores, jewelers, fur shops, fashion outlets or exclusive shopping malls.
Day 04: BUENOS AIRES: Day to spend at leisure.
Make it a day for soaking up the rich Argentinian culture. Wander down Esmeralda Street and browse the many charming bookstores for fascinating books, maps and old prints. Relax at the Plaza San Martín, a lovely Parisien-style square in the heart of the Argentine capital. Then, head to the MALBA in Palermo. This museum has an extraordinary collection of contemporary Latin American Art, featuring works by internationally known artists such as Frida Kahlo and Tarsila do Amaral. There is also an excellent café and terrace restaurant.
In the evening, enjoy a night of opera, ballet or music at the Colón Theatre, one of the 5 best concert houses in the world. Tickets subject to theatre’s calendar.
Day 05: BUENOS AIRES: Day to spend at leisure.
Buenos Aires is much more than the Capital of Tango and is full of attractions for people of all ages. Visit the beautiful Reserva Ecologica Costanera Sur, Buenos Aires’ largest open space and the only ecological reserve on the banks of the river Rio de la Plata. The reserve offers spectacular views of both nature and the city and is home to the city’s wild flamingos.
Day 06: BUENOS AIRES: At appropriate time private transfer to the airport.
